Features of this spreadsheet tool
csv.phkasla.com is a browser-based table editor. You open a file on your computer, work with the grid, and download the result. Nothing is uploaded to Phkasla servers. This page describes what the tool can do today.
Open many file types
Spreadsheets are the main focus: comma-separated values (.csv), tab-separated text (.tsv), Excel workbooks (.xlsx, .xls), and OpenDocument sheets (.ods). You can also open JSON arrays of objects, plain text lists, HTML tables, Markdown tables, and some Word or PDF files when a table or readable text is available inside the document.
Drag a file onto the home page, use Choose a file, or press ⌘ O / Ctrl O. Try the built-in sample table if you want to explore without your own data.
Edit like a lightweight spreadsheet
Click a cell to select it. Double-click or press Enter to edit. Copy, cut, and paste work with keyboard shortcuts. Undo and redo help you recover from mistakes. You can insert or delete rows and columns from the toolbar, from the Insert menu, or by right-clicking row numbers and column headers. Rename a column by double-clicking its header.
Large files stay responsive because the grid only renders the rows you scroll through. That makes it practical to inspect exports from databases, ecommerce platforms, or survey tools without installing desktop software.
Search, sort, and filter
The search box finds text across the sheet. Press / or ⌘ F / Ctrl F to focus search quickly. Click a column header to sort A–Z or Z–A, or to apply a filter so you only see rows that match a value. Filters combine with search, which is useful when you need to locate one customer, SKU, or transaction in a long export.
Column summary and charts
Open View → Column summary to see counts, min, max, and averages for numeric columns on the rows you currently have visible. Open View → Charts to build a simple bar, pie, line, or histogram chart from the filtered data. Charts update when you change filters or search terms, so you can explore subsets before exporting.
Export and share your work
Use the File menu to download Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or JSON, or to copy the whole table to the clipboard. Edits in the browser do not overwrite your original file on disk until you download a new copy. If you leave the tab with unsaved changes, the browser warns you first.
Privacy by design
Parsing and editing happen locally in your browser. Phkasla does not receive the contents of your spreadsheet. The site may store the last table in this browser’s local storage so you can return later; you can clear that in browser settings. Read the privacy policy for cookies, fonts, and advertising.
Limits to know about
- Files larger than about 40 MB cannot be opened in this page.
- Password-protected Office files are not supported.
- Scanned PDFs are images, so no table can be extracted from them.
- Media files and installers cannot be opened as a table.
